Moonlight Wanderers - Coming Spring 2018

Description

I've talked about this a little bit here and there over the last few months, but as there's been a lot of silence more recently and today is Pokemon Day (happy 22nd anniversary, Pokemon!), I thought this was as good a time as any to talk about my game plan.

I had only a very small following on DA when I started Rain.  So, I'm sure almost nobody remembers this, but during the first week of Rain, a new page actually went up every day (as in the usual post days, but also Tuesday and Thursday).  My line of thought being that this would get readers through the prologue and initial chapter cover so that when I would begin regular posting the following week, we'd be jumping right into things.  And for pretty much the same reason, I'd like to repeat this for the first week of Moonlight Wanderers.  One page, every day for a week, before moving into the regular schedule.

I can't name exact dates at this time, but that first week of Moonlight Wanderers, is planned to occur in between Chapters 35 and 36 of Rain (which should be sometime in the Spring).  Rain will take a week hiatus between those chapters, so I can focus on that week of MW, and return the following week.  MW will join it then, posting on one of Rain's off-days (I haven't yet decided which).  The plan is one page per week (though due to longer pages, it'll probably still be close to the same amount of content as a week's worth of Rain).  This should in no way interfere with Rain.

It will also be a different kind of story.  While Moonlight Wanderers will contain loads of LGBT characters in it (because of course it will!), it's not exactly as much of a focal point. There, it's more like they're Pokemon trainers and also queer and/or trans to some capacity; it's not really a theme though as it is in Rain.

It will also be darker than Rain.  Besides that like 90% of the story takes place at night (so, it's literally dark), the nature of a Nuzlocke means characters (human and Pokemon alike) can die.  There will be blood (not gore, but blood for sure).  You can still expect plenty of charming character interactions, a quirky sense of humor, and cute Pokemon doing cute things, but don't forget that things can and will get intense sometimes.

And for those of you wondering about how closely it ties to the game, I have my notes of my Moon run going the full length of the game, so I know when catches, major victories, and falls happen.  It also features a lot of the same characters: Hau, Lillie, Gladion, Team Skull, Aether Foundation, trial captains, etc. will all be there, though possibly somewhat different than you remember.  That said, the characters in the image above, Maya (my player character) with her Popplio, Tsukiko, and Midori (her rival) with her Bulbasaur, Herbert, are original.  Likewise, the structure of the Island Trials will still be there, but the trials themselves may be depicted differently.  And the story overall will absolutely diverge.  Though it is based specifically on the Moon version, there may also be nods to Ultra Moon and other games in the series as well.  Overall, I don't think it will be necessary for you to have played the game it's based on - or even really be a Pokemon fan - to enjoy this.  Though I think knowing the original content might add to the experience a little.

Other than that, not much else to say for now.  I hope you'll look forward to Moonlight Wanderers and also more Rain to come.

And happy Pokemon Day!  ^_^

I am intrigued to see how you portray Team Skull ... oh and I can't wait to read Moonlight Wanderers.
