Pre-Chapter 33 Review

Journal Entry: Sun Jun 11, 2017, 9:40 AM
I've been a bit lax about Chapter Reviews lately.  But with big things like prom coming soon, I think now would be a good time to pause and share thoughts or make predictions (especially regarding some things that might not have been brought up in a while).  So this is less me asking your thoughts on this recent chapter, and more me asking how you feel about what currently is and what's to come?

Like the Chapter Reviews, you can share as much or as little as you like.  You don't have to answer every question, but you also don't have to restrict yourself to what I ask.  Every little bit helps.  ^_^

So I'd like to ask if you can share your thoughts regarding:

- Rain's growing confidence, up to and including her handling of Debbie and Todd, or her decision to take Chanel to prom

- Ky accepting Drew's invitation to prom

- Emily's pregnancy, Debbie and Holly's reactions to it so far, and where Chase has been all this time

- Rudy and/or Ruby

- Todd, and why he's so interested in getting a prom date

- Heather's feelings (if any?) about Jessica

- Jessica's feelings (if any?) about Aiken

- Allison's feelings (if any?) about Rain

- Kellen's talks with Vincent

- Lesser seen characters like Blair, Aidyn, Madison, and Colette, and what kinds of people they are or how they fit into everything

- Optional, additional thoughts regarding other characters or arcs I may've neglected to mention?

New reward tier on Patreon!

Journal Entry: Tue Jun 6, 2017, 8:19 AM
Hey, Rain Beaus!  As you may know, I've recently finally started up a Patreon. I'm still new to the whole thing, so it has been a bit of a slow start while I get my bearings straight with it. But as of today, I'm introducing a new tier.

For $3, I'll now be showcasing non-comic art (concept art, fanart, random doodles, etc.). These things will eventually be shared with everybody, but by becoming a patron of this tier, you get to see it first (sometimes days in advance, sometimes even weeks!).

Along with the new reward tier, I've immediately posted a fun, new image to go along with it. And later this week, the first image previewing my upcoming second comic will be shown as well.

If you're interested, you can find this here:

I know people have been telling me to do this for years, so if anyone's interested, we finally started a Patreon.

In better news

Journal Entry: Sat May 20, 2017, 3:58 PM

It's been a rough week, but my day was made when a friend sent me a link this morning for an article about 10 must-read LGBTQIA+ webcomics.…

Spoilers: Rain is on it, and ranked way higher than I'd have expected. What an honor!  ^_^

Also, I have internet again! And a friend donated an old desk they weren't using! I still have to draw Monday's page, but I at least have a space to do it now.

Moving, pt.3

Journal Entry: Fri May 19, 2017, 4:50 AM
I guess it's probably good I took the week off, as I haven't had time to draw anything and would've invariably been unable to post anyway.  This move has kind of been a nightmare.

From the electric company AND our internet provider both taking their sweet time to give us what we need (thankfully, we got power for the AC before it got unbearably hot, but we're still waiting until at least tomorrow for the internet), to the fact that someone stole my desk right off our property in the brief moment I looked away, to the basically endless soreness and fatigue I've felt all week... I'm just spent.

I'll do my best to return to my usual posting schedule on Monday, but if I fail to do so... you know why.  Of course, I'll be sure to keep you posted. ^_^

If there's a positive in all this, it's that our new apartment is beautiful.  The neighborhood is friendly and clean.  It's quiet. So beautifully, wonderfully, peacefully quiet.  Once everything is completely squared away, I think this is going to be a huge improvement for us.

Moving, pt.2

Journal Entry: Sat May 13, 2017, 6:40 AM
Also, for those of you who don't read the page blurbs: I just want to make sure everyone gets the memo that there will be no page updates next week.

I'm stressed beyond words with the upcoming move, so having one less thing to worry about would be massively helpful. Sorry for doing this to you all again so soon. But I should be able to get back into the swing of things after we get situated at the new place.

Pages will resume posting as per usual on May 22nd.

Thank you, as always, for your patience and support. ^_^

Journal Entry: Mon May 8, 2017, 3:26 PM
So, I may have mentioned a few weeks ago in passing that I would be moving soon. Turns out, it'll be this weekend. And thank god. I'm so excited. It's gonna be so much better for so many reasons.

I just want to let you know in case this affects posting for a little bit. I mean, I don't think it should. But just in case there's trouble getting internet set up at the new place, or I fall behind on making pages due to the moving process, or it takes time to generally get situated... this is why.

That said, I'm hoping that this process will go very smoothly and the comic will proceed uninterrupted. ^_^

Big numbers!

Journal Entry: Tue May 2, 2017, 4:00 PM
I've made two crazy realizations today.

1. Friday's update will be the 900th page of Rain. And uh... holy crap, if I may say so myself.

2. That's just online pages though. And if I count all the bonus chapter pages exclusive to the books, then the one going up on May 15th is actually page 1,000!

My mind is just repeatedly imploding and exploding over and over again in an effort to process that I've very nearly done one thousand of anything. XD

Tomorrow's forecast

Journal Entry: Tue Apr 18, 2017, 11:14 AM
Just a reminder that updates will resume tomorrow.  Sorry again for the unexpected hiatus everyone, but thanks again for your patience.

Journal Entry: Sun Apr 9, 2017, 1:28 PM
Soooo... I have disappointing news...

See, I'm visiting my folks for the next nine days.  And I brought my computer and drawing tablet so I could continue to work while I'm here.

I did not pack the drawing pen.  -_-

I'm going to see if I can arrange something to work around this, but there may be a sudden hiatus for this upcoming week or so.  My deepest apologies if it comes to that, but I'm going to see what I can do.

No, really. Volume 4 is out!

Journal Entry: Sun Apr 2, 2017, 7:50 AM
I wanted to offer a friendly reminder that Rain - Volume 4 is out. Technically, it came out yesterday, but in case anyone didn't believe me because of April Fools Day, I wanted to just repost it. ^^;…

Rain - Volume 4 is OUT!

Journal Entry: Sat Apr 1, 2017, 1:21 PM
That's not a joke!  It's really out!  Here's the link!…

Or you can find all four here!…

You can also use the coupon code APRSHIP for free mail shipping or 50% ground shipping through tomorrow.  Please check it out.  If you can't get a copy for whatever reason, you can still help by sharing the link.

(And I'll probably have to announce it again tomorrow for everyone that doesn't believe me because of f***ing April Fools Day, but whatever. I'm just thrilled it's finally out.) :happycry:

Happy Transgender Day of Visibility!

Journal Entry: Fri Mar 31, 2017, 9:39 AM
For those who don't know, TDOV is an annual holiday occurring on March 31 dedicated to celebrating transgender people and raising awareness of the hardship and discrimination faced by us worldwide.  But I just want to take this opportunity to offer my love to ALL trans people, visible or not.

The topic has been recently relevant in the Rain so I've already kinda said a lot of this, but I just want to stress again to everyone: just do feels right for you.  Visibility is very important in the grand scheme of things, but so is your comfort and your safety.  So if you don't feel ready or you feel like you're not in a safe environment, don't force yourself to come out because you think you have to.  You don't.  Your responsibility is to your own well-being.  That's not selfish; that's taking care of yourself.

I'm visible, yes.  I also chose to be visible.  I want to be visible.  But I would never ever EVER force it on anyone who didn't want to live that way. Because I made my choice, and I want others to make theirs.

So, if you want to be visible, be visible.  If you want to be stealth, be stealth. If you want to be kinda halfway open with select people, go for it.  If you're planning to come out to someone or a couple someones today, I hope all goes well.  And if you want to shout it today and go back into stealth tomorrow, more power to you.  As long as you're not hurting anyone, you do whatever you need to for you. And whether your level of openness is based on personal safety, past traumas, general comfort, or just what feels right, your reasons ARE valid.

Please be happy, be safe, and be you.  Have a lovely day, everyone.  Today and every day.  ^_^

Hopefully the second to last Volume 4 update

Journal Entry: Sun Mar 26, 2017, 7:55 AM
That moment when I've finished my book a second time in a week span and I want to start working on other things at last, but I'm worried about getting cut off to work on the book again. I mean, I'm pretty confident it'll be fine this time, but with the two year production cycle for this one thus far, I'm gonna sweat it until it's in people's hands. ^^;

It's taken so long, I already have to start thinking about Volume 5 soon... XD

(I have no idea who the next bonus chapter is going to be about...) O_O

About Volume 4 and more

Journal Entry: Sat Mar 25, 2017, 5:50 AM
So, the book came in, and in terms of how the overall package looks, this is easily the best one yet. Nothing goes off the page. Nothing crawls into the binding between pages. All the text is crystal clear. I'm really, really happy with how it came out.

Unfortunately, I'm now seeing a bunch of things I need to tackle before officially releasing it. So it'll be just a teensy bit longer, but it's really coming.

In the meantime, Lulu is having a sale today for $5 off of $25 worth of print books with the coupon code MARSAVE5. If you need your fix, and haven't got the other books yet, this might be a good time for it. You can find the first three (and within another week or two, the fourth one) right here -…

Finally, as for when posting will resume, I'm looking at next Wednesday or Friday. Absolutely no later. This hiatus has already run quite a bit longer than I wanted it too, but there are a few more things I want to take care of before getting back into it (mostly revolving around the book).

Thank you for your continued patience! ^_^

Rain Volume 4 is ACTUALLY coming soon!

Journal Entry: Sun Mar 19, 2017, 9:55 AM
Okay, so I originally started working on Rain - Volume 4 in 2015, I think, and I originally wanted to have it done before my surgery last Summer. And before the New Year. And definitely January. And DEFINITELY February. And DEFINITELY no later than last Friday.

(This book has been a curse for me...) -_-

But!  At long last, it's done and submitted!  I have ordered my proof copy which should arrive in a week or two, and if all is well, it will be available to the public then.  Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay~!

Oh my god.  I'm so happy.

Chapter 30 + 31 Review

Journal Entry: Mon Mar 13, 2017, 7:41 AM
Friendly reminder that there will be no new page today or this week. As I've said before, I will keep you posted on my return date though (which is still up in the air at the moment, but will definitely be within March).

Also, I just realized I never offered review questions for Chapter 30, and I don't know if I'm getting around to formally doing it for Chapter 31 for a while either. But I'm still interested in hearing your thoughts! So here's the short, short version:

What are your thoughts on the past couple chapters?
Prom dates?
Rain on hormones?
The school's response to pregnant Emily?
Rain becoming more open?
Tell me what you think!  :D

Friendly gamer PSA

Journal Entry: Thu Mar 2, 2017, 5:38 AM
With the Nintendo Switch and new Zelda coming out tomorrow, and as someone who will unfortunately not be able to get either one just yet, I wanted to offer this little PSA:

If you spoil anything, you're dead to me. ^_^
Thank you, and have a nice day.

Pokemon Day

Journal Entry: Mon Feb 27, 2017, 4:04 PM
My friend on Facebook made this meme-thingy a few weeks ago, and while I wasn't tagged, I ganked it then. Got sidetracked a bit though and never finished it.  But as long it's Pokemon Day today (21st anniversary of the series!), I felt like I should finish it.

Rules: Must use a Pokemon that matches the type ONCE (for example, you can't use Charizard as both your favorite Fire Type and Flying Type) and give a brief explanation as to why. No Megas. No Legendaries/Ultra Beasts. Blank copy in the comments. I'm supposed to tag five people to do this too, but I'm really uncomfortable about tagging people, so if you read this and want to do it, just pretend I tagged you. Thanks for playing along. ;P

So without further ado:

Normal: Jigglypuff
Reason: I had a hard time choosing for Normal, because I tend to find the Type a bit bland. I ultimately settled with Jigglypuff though, despite having never actually used it in the Pokemon games. I do, however, use it quite frequently in Smash Bros, and consider it among my better characters there. So I guess I have a little fondness for this one.

Fighting: Pancham
Reason: Similarly, I'm not big on Fighting Types either. But Pancham is admittedly pretty adorable, and its portrayal in the show as being kind of an aloof, little brat was pretty fun. I'm not big on its evolution into Pangoro, but I rather like this little guy.

Flying: Drifblim
Reason: Do you know I never noticed until filling this out that there's only one pure Flying Type (and it's not this one)? XD Anyway! I know a lot of people hate on the Pokemon based on objects, but I always kinda loved them - Drifloon and Drifblim in particular, for the genuinely spooky lore attached to them.

Ground: Golurk
Reason: Though it was a tight race, I believe Golurk is my favorite Ground Type. I've always had kind of a fondness for golems (in the mythology/fantasy sense), and I think it looks super cool. Also, knowing it can learn Fly makes it that much cooler. I like to imagine it has rocket boots or something. XD

Poison: Koffing
Reason: I might not be into Pokemon at all if not for Koffing. I remember seeing early info about Pokemon before it came out and wondering if it was for me. Then there was some footage of James' Koffing from the anime, just floating with that derpy grin on its face in the background. I found that incredibly amusing, and decided I wanted one. And that was honestly all it took as the rest is history. There might be another Poison Type I actually like more, but Koffing will always hold a special place in my heart, so I needed to include it here.

Rock: Aron
Reason: Although its evolutions are also pretty cool, I particularly like Aron itself by virtue of being this little "tiny tank". Especially since it evolves so late, when a lot of the rest of your team already has... and it's still holding its own. What a little badass! XD

Bug: Vivillon
Reason: I'm not usually big on Bug Types, much like real life bugs. I admit I was charmed by this one though. I can't quite place why (it's more cute than gross, most likely), but I do like it a lot. The various different wing designs based on their origins is a really cool touch too (even if I personally only ever experienced about two patterns myself).

Ghost: Gourgeist
Reason: Ghost would be a tough category as I think it's one of my favorite Types, but Gourgeist is still easily one of my very favorite overall Pokemon. I'm not even 100% sure why. I think it's just a lot of my own headcanon imagining it to be very clingy. Also it's really cute. Who knew a snuggly ghost pumpkin would appeal to me so much? XD

Steel: Magnezone
Reason: Let's examine the evolution line, shall we? The original form, Mangnemite, is a magnet. It then evolves into Magneton, which is three magnets. Finally, it becomes Magnezone... which basically looks like a freaking spaceship. It blows my mind how cool this thing is (again, I love object Pokemon). XD

Fire: Ninetales
Reason: Another tough one. Honorable mentions go out to Rapidash, Cyndaquil, Chandelure, and Braixen. Ninetales wins all for me though. And although its Alolan form isn't a Fire type, I rather love that variant too.

Water: Milotic
Reason: My number one favorite Pokemon! It's cool, beautiful, incredibly powerful, and it was the first one I’d ever leveled up to 100. I was just immediately enamored by it. And the fact that I had to work so hard to “earn” it back in Ruby made it mean some much more to me. Also, there's my crackpot theory about it representing the trans experience (it doesn't; you don't need to call me out on it).

Grass: Lurantis
Reason: Though Lilligant, Vileplume, and Cherrim were close contenders for this one, Lurantis was easily among my new all time favorites with Sun/Moon. I was very drawn to it's classy, pretty, almost dainty design, and yet it's anything but weak or fragile (it was kinda the star of my team, in fact). I admit, I still don't understand why this wasn't also part Bug, as it's clearly based on a mantis. But whatever. I still love it. Easily now in my top ten.

Electric: Alolan Raichu
Reason: I mean, regular Raichu is great too, but the Alolan form in particular is just so charming. I'm sorry, it psychically lifts its own tail so it can surf around in the air on it. It even sleeps while "float-surfing" on it. I have a hard time looking at it without smiling.

Psychic: Gothorita
Reason: Psychic might've been a hard Type to narrow down, but a few of my other favorite Psychic Types are dual Types and elsewhere on this list. Still, I do love this whole evolution line, and they were one of the ones I was most excited for when going into Black/White. I singled out middle stage Gothorita over its other forms though for being what I think is the most cheek-pinchingly cute.

Ice: Glaceon
Reason: It's odd, but for someone who hates the cold as much as I do, I really like lot of Ice Types. And yet, this is still easily by far my favorite. It's just so pretty and charming, and I think I want one in real life. It's also an easy choice for my favorite Eeveelution.

Dragon: Dragonite
Reason: This was a tough decision, because I love so many Dragon Types. I was very torn between this and Goodra and Flygon (or even either of Dragonite's earlier forms!). But Dragonite in particular wins out perhaps for sentimental reasons, as I think it may be my most used Pokemon throughout the history of the games. It's incredibly simple-looking, but it's cute and it's badass, and I just adore it (and its earlier forms).

Dark: Absol
Reason: So the rules of this insist "no Megas", and I admit that a large part of why I like Absol is its Mega Evolution (those angel wings!). That said, I've always been a little iffy on Dark Types, making this one a shoe-in anyway. Partly because it's really cool (even a little eerie in a way if you follow the lore) and partly because it still looks fluffy and huggable despite that.

Fairy: Gardevoir
Reason: So I love Gardevoir. It's class and elegance when I first saw one made it an instant favorite for me. I'm not gonna lie; I'm super uncomfortable with its reputation as a "sexy" Pokemon, because I feel like I can't say I like Gardevoir without people assuming I like it for dirty reasons. It's frustrating, and it's caused me to usually dial back on gushing how much like this one. But I'd rather be blunt and say it's easily among my favorites. Other people can like it for whatever reason they want; I just love it because it's cool.

Still here, and proud of it

Journal Entry: Thu Feb 23, 2017, 5:19 AM
I just wanted to say today is basically the two-year anniversary since I beat cancer. Not much else to add (unless anyone has questions?), but otherwise, I just wanted to say I'm happy to still be here. ^_^

Rock on, everyone. And always be sure to check yourselves.
