Costume Trouble
Ryan, the totally normal guy makes another appearance in the strange alternate reality where he never ended up being trans.

This one's a little awkward, almost ending up as less of a joke and more of a social commentary. Completely normal, cisgendered people do indeed crossdress for Halloween... but it's usually for a laugh. They'll dress trampy, wear a cheap wig, make sure makeup is used haphazardly and excessively and use a painfully exaggerated voice all night. It's a joke. Because they wouldn't be caught dead in a girly outfit any other way.

Incidentally, before I officially came out to my friends offline years ago, I "dressed as a girl" for Halloween to test the waters and gauge reactions. I passed really well that night, completely ruining the joke. I'm sure some people caught on that night. Others laughed anyway, probably thinking I went all out as part of the joke (after all, they didn't want to be rude and NOT laugh). But I did find the experiment yielded very positive results. I sincerely recommend to any transperson still in the closet that Halloween is a PERFECT opportunity to use to come out, or in the very least, give an idea of what kind of reactions you'd get if you did come out.

That kinda went off on a tangent... uh, sorry. Funny?


Time Paradox
If you've been following the dates and flow of time in the comic thus far, the first five chapters take place within only a two week span. The first chapter is day one. The second is day two. The third brings us to Friday night. The fourth just barely gets us to Saturday morning. And finally chapter five brings us through to the following Saturday evening. I can't say for sure what specific day that means the chapter ends on, but considering that school only just started, and two weeks have passed, Sept. 21st sounds pretty good to me. ^_^

But Chapter 6 plays out entirely on Halloween night. Meaning like a month and a half passes, but what actually happens during that time? Well, apparently nothing important. Just some normal days with no extraordinary drama. And this is a story, so really, nobody cares unless there's drama. People don't want to see a chapter dedicated to Rain studying for a test. That would be boring, meaningless filler. So, let's skip it.

And apparently, Emily has the power to make that happen... much to Holly's bewilderment. ^_^
