Description
Introducing “Rain Delay”: goofy little gag comics to keep you entertained while I work on the legit stuff. (Feels like it's been a while since I last did this...)
Mistaken Identity
This one is in reference to "Page 187 - Crowd", where I show Rain and Rudy drawing close to each other... from the neck down. There were a LOT of comments suggesting that it would end up being two completely different people. The funny thing - at least for me - is that this is NEVER even crossed my mind as a possibility when I drew the page. I went in thinking "the only girl with a braid and the only boy with an orange collar will be totally recognizable to everyone".
Uh, well... my bad.
I had fun coming up with minor changes to major characters to create the lookalikes (whom I'm calling Brody and Jane in my mind).
Serious Business
I also recieved some criticism about Rain and Rudy "just hugging". I dunno. Maybe, it's just me, but I find hugs to be very romantic. Holly and I are like-minded (to an extent) in that regard... which is a scary thought.
Anyway, in Chapter 8, I briefly mentioned these two getting together, but I really wanted to include a bit more of them as the chapter went on. Somehow it just never fit, though. Thank god for Rain Delays to allow opportunities like this. Holly's outburst at the end was just fun to write! ^_^

The random two characters need names! The boy has a really pronounced nose; I think I'll call him Snort. The girl, meanwhile, is wearing coke-bottle glasses, so the name Coke fits. And I think I've got a pretty good name for their pairing...
Seriously, though, I actually did contemplate (but didn't mention in my comment) the possibility that the two involved in the neck-down hug scene were not Rudy and Rain. That would have been an AMAZING anticlimax, but it would probably make half the readers RAEG all over the place.
As for the second strip, Devon and Holly just don't understand the sad truth about being an outer character - the readers just don't care that much about you. Personally, I really enjoy the amount of development that has already gone into (and I hope will continue in the future) some of the characters: it's neat to have multiple stories going on at once, and to see such interesting personalities and interactions outside the main cast. Also, Holly calling Devon "You slut!" in the last panel... that just made my day. Holly's had some really good lines so far, but this one tops 'em. I do hope, though, that Devon turns into more than the void of interest he is now.
Hard to believe this is only the tenth Rain Delay strip. As great as the usual story is, I enjoy these funny little interruptions quite a lot, too!
