And the scene lightens up a little just in time for… oh…
Well, it was bound to happen eventually.
Rain, all characters and all other aspects of the story are copyright material belonging to me.
Want a copy of Rain - Volume 1?!
Want a cute, little Puddle plushie?
Want to support me without spending money?
Then Rain flees, shouting "Run away!!!"
No, wait, I'm thinking of some other webcomic heroine...
Of course, this is a comic, so yes, it was bound to happen.
Please don't take my sarcasm offensively, I actually love your comic. That disclaimer probably wasn't necessary, but hey, your professed paranoia of sarcastic statements being perceived as serious ones is something I totally get.
... Oh right.
That, my friensds, is a guarenteed way of ensuring something worse will happen.

In all fairness though, Chanel is looking directly at them, and they at her.
That will work, right? ._.
Waitavalknut, why is everyone assuming that Chanel will react badly? There is still hope, especially considering how adorably bad Rain's attempt at imitating the cultural male gender role was. So adorable! ^_^
Seriously, though, this page reintroduces the element of Maria and Chanel, who have so far been absent from the party. Everyone can continue on in their malltime merriment... except that Chanel was never invited to "Club Rain's Secret". Which means that either Rain is going to have to think up a lie quickly, or she's going to have to welcome Chanel into the club (mere hours after Kylie's impromptu initiation ceremony!). Personally, I think Chanel will be surprised, but cool with it, like Maria and Rudy were at first. At the very least, she doesn't seem like the type to intentionally "out" her. As for her reaction to Rudy... after what happened at the Halloween party, I don't think she'll be too shocked (especially if they explain that he's functioning as Rain's "smokescreen"). Funny... Gavin was Maria's smokescreen, and now "Ruby" is "Ryan"'s. I guess a lot of value is placed on status moves that reduce accuracy in the world of Rain, heh heh.
Aiken appears and... um, just walks by. Right now, I'm betting that he'll confront Rain at chapter's end. Is Rain avoiding Aiken just because he looks angry? Or might she fear that he's suspecting something? Perhaps the pages ahead will reveal.
And, before I forget, the first three panels provide some charming Rain-Rudy dialogue. Then again, they are a relatively charming couple. The fact that Rain slips into her voice in panel 1 suggests that Rain thinks of her voice not merely as a means to the end of "passing", but that she genuinely prefers using it over her natural voice. While presenting as male, she relishes even the small opportunities to practice her femininity (as we already saw, with the dress scene). While I enjoy watching the shenanigans that unfurl as Rain tries to pass herself off as Ryan, I can't help but hope for the day when Rain no longer has to pretend, and can live as who she wants to be.
(ohgod i still have so many replies from the last page... what did i do....)
Panel 7. Rudy's expression. Priceless.
