First off, hey, a Monday post! Woo-hoo! :XD:

Anyway, this starts up pretty much exactly where the previous chapter ended. Itís literally no more than ten minutes later, as Fara has talked on the phone for at least a little while, and Rain and her buddies have moved on to Fabio Cart.

Then we get to the last two panels andÖ well, how do you feel about this? Letís say youíre one of Rainís friends; just a fly on the wall for this scene. Does it bother you that Rain isnít willing to offer shelter to her own brother, or is it sense-making given the situation? On the other hand, is it wrong for Fara to go ahead and invite Aiken anyway despite Rainís wishes, or is she really being the better person here?

First page of the chapter, and we already get a potential zinger of a debate. I already love this chapter. ^_^

Rain, all characters and all other aspects of the story are copyright material belonging to me.

Also, if you enjoy the comic, please vote for "Rain" on TopWebComics!

From Rain's point of view: she may well have a better grasp of what's going on family-wise than anybody else. I got nothing but grief and a lot of stress (yelling, screaming, crying, hatred, etc. when I told them I was gay. There's that old saying about not going and looking for trouble.

As for Fara: if she was going to ignore what Rain said, why even bother to ask? That shows an extra bit of contempt for Rain, hardly an "adult" thing to do. Certainly not something a 'better person' would do. Personally if I was Rain, the best response Fara could look forward to is a severe beatdown 'cause she would be so dead if I got my hands on her.

With proper planning, security, caution, and luck, I think she could manage to keep things on the down low.

....Pffft, yeah right, it's a comic. :P

"Blue Carapace"... classic. It's way better than those Plantain Rinds I always seem to get.

Seriously, though, this page lets us see Rain and Fara's initial reactions to Aiken's call. That Rain wouldn't want Aiken to visit isn't surprising, given that he doesn't know that his little bro is actually a little sis. Still, I was personally surprised at how resolute Rain was in shooting down the idea. She's showing a lot more confidence than she did early on, I would say... perhaps this is a sign of her growing as a person? Fara choosing to immediately follow Rain's refusal with an acceptance is an awesomely humorous turn.

While I can see why Rain would be against it, I firmly believe Fara is in the right here. One, Aiken is family - even though he hasn't been in touch, he's still Fara's nephew and Rain's brother, and I personally believe in familial obligation (at least to a certain degree). Two, it's the flippin' Christmas season! They put the tree up, and everything! One of the core aspects of Christmas is as a time for family reunion. Third - and this is the capitalist in me - but it's Fara's apartment. Rain does live there, but Fara's the one who pays for it, and she has the right to choose who can and can't stay over. Besides, after taking in one nephew (er, niece), it seems wrong to deny another. Fourth - and this is the selfish reason - but if Fara didn't let Aiken over, then there would be no super awesome dramatic twistful family reunion revelation chapter that I've been waiting for since the prologue ended!

I'm definitely looking forward to more of this chapter - the arguing between Fara and Rain, the nosy friends being nosy, Aiken finally arriving (and, perhaps, learning the truth about his "brother"), and the holiday season somehow bringing everyone together in a circle of singing.

I would almost switch around the 3rd and 4th panels. The emotion change would make more sense that way.

In my opinion Fara was kinda in the wrong for saying yes so abruptly.... kinda seems like a bit of a bit of a snap to reaction to Rains disaproval. Perhaps she hasnt quite thought it through... Aiken is in for quite a shock ^^

For one I don't think any of Rains family know that she's a girl now.
