Hey, look! It’s the main character! Remember her? And yes, Rain is sitting there throughout that entire conversation (you can see her arm in certain panels). She’s just not paying attention.

We all know what Rain’s reading by now, but what’s Emily got there? I was thinking she’s probably not the manga type. I could see her being into classic literature though, like “Dignity and Defamation” (wink).

Rain, all characters and all other aspects of the story are copyright material belonging to me.

Also, if you enjoy the comic, please vote for "Rain" on TopWebComics!

Ok knowing what we do makes sense that she was sick for a time not long after Halloween...

Didn't remember this one when we find out later.

I've done that sort of thing before, but I usually look up a few seconds after I hear my name...

Ohh crap. I read it all in one night and I just realise there is no more yet. T_T

Ps: I love it. Being trans myself I can relate to this

I wrote an Audio Play based on the first chapter, would you like the PDF?

I don't know what the name of the book is but I know what it's about.

It's going to be about a neglected boy who lives in his aunt and uncle's cabinet and one day gets a letter saying he's a wizard! So he goes to the train station but on the way there the train crashes into an island with polar bears and a GIANT SMOKE MONSTER so he and the other passengers must survive until rescue... or so they thought until they discovered an abandoned laboratory dedicated to the research of an ancient virus that mutated turning people into zombies!! So they must defend their small colony of Reach until the hero Snake Pliskin can get there to stop the zombies with his giant blue dragon and in the end it was all in a snow globe being imagined in the mind of a small autistic child...

I remember "Dignity and Defamation"! I read it shortly after "High Aspirations", both of which were the year following "The Crimson Symbol" and "Pitcher in the Wheat".

Seriously, though, we finally get to see more of Rain! And Emily... hooray. This page keeps up the gym continuity, only this time we're on the other side of the locker room doors. We learn that, indeed, Emily was absent from school on the day of Maria's announcement. While she may or may not have actually been sick, she's likely been distraught about Chase for a while (I'm assuming that's what she's referring to, in saying her "perfect year is ruined). Holly... oh, Holly. She's actually becoming one of my favorite secondary characters (and it's not for those "two big reasons" Debbie suggested, I'll have you know!), if only because she always carries the punchline. I love her "shocking announcement" in panel 4... the empty panel 3 makes the timing perfect for many lulz. Rain appearing at the end of the page came as something as a surprise (it probably shouldn't have, given that she's, you know, the main character and all) - I love how you did it, with a bit of her arm hanging over the edge. That Emily takes a few ellipses to actually talk to Rain suggests the awkward situation where you're with someone you sort of know, and you've both been there for a minute or so, but haven't said anything, and you try to strike up some droll conversation... you could say I've been there. I'm curious as to how their conversation will go: Emily's supposed to be a sort of antagonist, but I'm not getting evil vibes from her right now. Perhaps the next page will have them conversing... or perhaps it'll be inside the gym, featuring the triumphant return of the long-missed, but never-forgotten Mrs. Parker!

This is a class-A page, no doubt. A well-executed joke, a surprise appearance, and a good lead-in for what the next page is without describing what it's about. I'm looking forward to Wednesday.

Clever! I love the titles you came up with. I'm feeling a little stupid cause I didn't get "High Aspirations". Wait, is it "Wuthering Heights" or am I way off?
