Rudy really seems to be rather level-headed about the abuse he’s received. But he also knows that if Maria gets involved, like Gavin said, she probably WILL end this Todd guy.

She has a name though now…

Food for thought: Is Maria doing the right thing by protecting her brother against his wishes, or should she back off? If you were in Maria’s shoes, how would you handle this situation?

What Maria is doing is adorable. I would have never realised it's kind of wrong if you hadn't asked. But it is. If it was my brother trying to fight my battles I'd be royally pissed at him. It's pretty obvious why.

Yeah, who is that weird person who has just commented out of the blue, right? I started reading this comic a few days ago and I've been so engrossed in it I didn't find it particularly important to comment since this is all old stuff. I dunno why I'm commenting now. But the whole thing's awesome and hilarious. Good work.

Really intense page this one was. But I guess I have a thing for pages that involve siblings, so this is up there with "Ryan" and Kellen's phon conversation in terms of emotion. And adds a little bit more depth with how they see each other. With Maria obviously being the muscle for Rudy for just being who he is. Though it is kind of like another way for Maria to defend her own sexuality since she can't be open about it like Rudy can. Tough to define personal strength sometimes.

I also find myself going back to the Rain prototype with this one. The reason being Maria and Rudy's relationship. Knowing that Rudy and Maria were royalty it brought me to question how it must have been to have Maria defend Rudy in such times. Obviously being the future of the world and thus wondering were it was headed with Rudy being gay. Though it is no different than in the slice-of-life Rain were people still question where the future is going with the rise of more gays among the population. I doubt the population growth is in danger, but it was one of those random thoughts I seem to have.

I hope that gives Gavin some brownie points with Maria.

I think it's nice that Maria cares enough to protect Rudy like that, but I personally think that she needs to give some distance. Her actions aren't wrong, but Rudy makes a good point: he can fight his own battles and she should definately let him do so.

I think Maria should back off. It would be different if she were an adult or in a position of authority, but as it is there isn't much she can do to help, and she can certainly make things worse. Plus she's basically telling her brother she doesn't trust him and he can't do things on his own. I know I would feel unappreciated if someone went behind my back because they think they know better, especially for something close to my heart.
On top of that, Rudy is the one that took a stand while Maria is still hiding in the closet. It seems kind of hypocritical of her to defend him from her closet, if I'm making any sense. She'd help much more just by being out too.

Its cool that she wants to defend him, but this is one of those situtations where the person being bullied/abused has to stand up for them self.

She should back off, I have three older sisters and while it is nice to know they will fight my battles if I let them, it gets annoying.

love this so god damn much. i love gay people :D but i'm not gay, but i do have two bisexual sisters, so it doesn't bug me :3

I would kill the Todd guy or at least teach him to keep his fist away from my brother, and I would teach him the lesson painfully, very painfully...I get violent when someone hurts someone I care for.
