I kinda feel bad for Gavin. I mean, the guy’s legitimately trying to be good right now, but still carries this stigma of being the “token bastard” of the group.

Incidentally, Rudy’s hard to read sometimes, but I don’t think he meant any harm with his suggestion. Maybe Rain overreacted a little and jumped to conclusions too. In my experience, that’s a pretty natural reaction though.

But don’t worry too much about Rain. She hadn’t had a good cry yet this chapter… ^^;

Hmm...

I honestly don't plan on *forbidding* myself from ever cosplaying as a guy. But it probably won't be till I'm far enough in the process that it can acctually be considered crossplaying.

I don't believe in arbitrarily limiting oneself.
That said...I'm more likely to be attracted to the 'cute' costumes anyhow. I forsee myself as many a Final Fantasy protagonist. Especially once Type-0 comes out!

Sucks to be Gavin that is for sure in these later pages. But starting off the way he did in the story is probably the best way to get people to keep an eye on you and continue to blame you for everything.

But I will admit that Rudy didn't voice that joke well. I probably would've run off screaming myself, especially since most TG individuals in general tend to try not to think about themselves passing. I mean I only worry just enough to keep up shaving and doing my hair so I don't look too boyish. Although a joke will always be better than someone coming up to you and saying "you are such a hansome boy/pretty girl" like it is the best compliment you can possibly hear. After hearing that I can admit a joke is always better.

But at least Rain got her cry for the chapter and luckily Rudy still got his invitation to go becuase that as much he can possibly get out of maria after that.

Oh, quick side note, good job on the spead lines. They looked so intense but still so awkward for the people that saw her run away. It was a good addition to the randomness of the piece.

The main character may be male-to-female, but there ARE female-to-male characters in the story. ^_^

Also, if you're interested in a specifically female-to-male comics, I recommend :iconaikoux:'s "TransLife" comic.

eh, Rain just needs to get a good cry in. that always makes me feel better when something that upsets me happens. it's like crying forces all of my pain and anguish out through my tear ducts along with the actual tears... well, not all of it, just enough to allow me to fall asleep...

... how ironic, talking about how crying helps me not feel sad made me feel sad...

seemed kind of like rain over reacted, but i can kind of sympathize... Gavin sounded like he was gonna say something after that first line, so he was on thin ice and Rudy jumped in there first. he actually almost spared Gavin the WRATH OF MARIA! lolz

I can sorta see what Rudy was trying to do here. If I'm reading this correctly, he was trying to make gender seem like a molehill as opposed to a mountain. Unfortunately, Rain kinda took it the wrong way... Oh well. I'm sure apologies and explanations will ensue.

Well-meaning people can say the worst things, and you can't even write them off like you can do to jerks.

A few days ago at school, I was talking with a few of my friends and this one guy I had never seen before was with us. I had thought about doing the Unemployment Advocacy program but I was worried I wouldn't get taken seriously by clients or judges since I only pass about 50% of the time (if even that much). He said any such difficulty would only come about because of the way I project my insecurities. If I'm confident, I'll be taken seriously no matter what I look like (according to the white, straight, 26-year-old male in professional school).

As he left us he said "Goodbye Mr. [last name]" and I only had time to say "No. Not 'Mister.'" He replied, "Oh, you do the pronoun thing" and smiled and walked away. It sucks because I can't even hate him for it.

I thing that Rain jumped the gun a little. Rudy meant well but i don't quite think that he understands and Rain who's neurotic because she's trying to pass thought he meant that she wasn't doing that. So don't blame Rudy he just speaks before he thinks. And Gavin's not a bad guy he can be a jerk but i think that he's trying to work on that.

This page should be subtitled: "Slight Overreaction 2: Electric Boogaloo"!

Seriously, though, this is the first page in which Rudy genuinely offends Rain. His lack of a brain-to-mouth filter is at once his most endearing trait and his biggest flaw. Rudy says whatever comes to his mind, and this time, he ended up steamrolling Rain with it. As for Rain, I can understand how she might take Rudy's comment the wrong way. It was intended as a compliment, but taken as an insult. And yet, she does seem to overreact. It may be her neuroticism, or she may just be feeling more self-conscious than usual. While I do feel sorry for Rain (at having her feelings hurt), I feel even more sorry for Rudy (he has to deal with the guilt of hurting Rain's feelings). And he still has his bruise from yesterday! And then we get Maria to enter the picture, who assumes that Rain's sobbing flight was Gavin's doing (probably because he's the only character who's made Rain cry before, back at the end of ch. 3). I haven't thought of it before, but Maria and Gavin could be considered rivals: both have expressed interest in Rain and both are protective of Rudy (and, of course, there was the bet they made way back in chapter 1).

This is one of those strips where you could remove all the speech bubbles, and most of the story would remain intact. I especially like Rain's runaway scene: the background is simple, yet effective.

This page is yet another instance in which Rain's emotional frailty comes up. How the other characters (and Rain herself) deal with it will determine the next few pages.

Sure hope so. I actually have a fairly feminine face. When I have makeup on I'm positive I wasn't meant to be a guy. But my body...hormones definatley will have to be magical to fix that. And I will backhand them next time I see them

While I'm a bit 'stocky for a girl', my major problem is going to be my face, not my body. I'm starting to worry that, short of shaving my freakin' jawbone, nothing is gonna get my face to stop looking masculine.

Rudy's never seen Rain in guy mode (seeing as how Rain has pretty much purged it), so how would he know how "authentic" she'd look? >_>;;;

And before anyone says "tradecraft", I don't think Rain would want to hear that.

In my experience, despite how ultra-femmy of a girl I am (and decidedly flamboyant I come off in the instance that I HAVE to present as male), there are still many, MANY people who assume that I can just turn that off and be a super macho gorilla of a man if I absolutely wanted to be.

This assumption would be false.

Anyway, Rudy always means well, but he doesn't always think these things through. As such, he was perfect to be the one to offer that little misinterpretation...

Crap.

Gavin's gonna get owned by Fala Flame and his companions shall be executed as well via Meteor Spells!

...okay, maybe I'm reading too far into the title.

On the other hand, I feel Gavin's pain for being blamed far too many a times for things I've not done.

It sucks.

Me neither. I mostly watched a few "Let's Play" videos of it, though. I'm already biased towards Holyn and Ayra. ^^;

I personally liked FE9 much more than FE10, especially with how they screwed over a few of the good units from the former. Though I admit they had some good ideas narrative-wise...

Playing through FE9 after FE10, it's interesting to see how some of the units who were bad in the latter are actually pretty good in the former (Lethe, for one). And I like that it has support conversations. However, I really like FE10 just for how BIG it is (three tiers, most chapters, second-most characters). Also, it's kind of disappointing not seeing some of my favorite FE10 characters (Eddie, Nolan, Pelleas, Kurth) in FE9. Still, I've loved every Fire Emblem game I've played; each one has its own pros and cons, but they're all good games.

Yeah.

But I still can't help but feel terribly disappointed in FE10. Good game, I just felt there was some horrible excuse plots thrown in...

Unless the writers deliberately wrote it to have Michiah hated, then they're doing a wonderful job of that. ^^;

(I actually don't mind Michiah so much, it's just... man, as understandably desperate the situation she was put in, she made some VERY horrible decisions as a leader that should have just never been made at all..)

Actually, of all the Fire Emblems I've played, I like FE10's plot the best. 6, 8, 9, and 11 all follow the same story of one country invades another, hero's father dies, prince retakes his nation, gets some legendary weapons, beats up the invaders and defeats a great evil. Admittedly, FE7 deviated from the pattern, but it never involved an all-out war, and it felt like too much of a set-up for FE6.

FE10 was really composed of four distinct, linear, loosely connected plots. Part I is basicly a glorified tutorial, but I thought the plot was decent. Part II could pretty much be removed from the game without sacrificing any plot (that isn't to say I didn't enjoy it). Part III is where it gets interesting, as you fight for two sides. While I see why people might hate Micaiah, I never did; everything she did, she did for Daein, even if it meant sacrificing her ideals (and frankly, fighting for the bad guys). And I like how Part IV shows that good and evil (Ashera and Yune) are not as cut-and-dry as people make them out to be. Plus, you get to fight a goddess, which is just above fighting the Demon King.

Admittedly, though, the best thing for Pelleas and Micaiah to do would have been to team up with the good guys and defeat the Senate, obtaining the blood pact in as few days as possible.

Anyway, speaking of "Rain"... (heh, heh).

I really feel for Gavin, how people assume he's being a jerk where a good portion of the time despite his harsh outlook and deep biases, he really is being as nice as he can. I do think Rain overreacted a little bit, but understand how hurtful Ryan's words are when not taken the playful way he meant them.
