Mrs. Parker never learns, does she? I mean, come on! She was asking for it that time!

I guess it probably did sound better in her head though.

Rain, all characters and all other aspects of the story are copyright material belonging to me.

there's a debate in my head between who can make a compliment sound worse, Gavin or Mrs. Parker?

As a parent, this has to be one of the hardest things to do anyway. Knowing that your child is adjusting to new things and you don't want to overwhelm her more. For a parent it really is like you have to be one of the biggest marters for their own happiness. Such a sweet moment.

Now i don't know if this happens to you (don't know how much you want personal stories the comments), but it does seem like I've become a test for my big sister. Basically like Fara that she would be tough as nails but still caring for me. So far as including me when she goes into a commited relationship. I guess if her boyfriend at the time had something against me she would not have a reason to continue the relationship. Luckily she has been married for a while, and her husband will help me out if it came down to it. It really is a sweet moment that makes me hope for the best with Fara.

But like Fara, my sis would kick ass if someone said something out of line. But, I guess that is what a gaurdian should do. Love you unconditionally and without thought, hopefully she will find someone who understands this relationship.

I don't know, depends on how you look at it; if you said that to an adoptive mother, which Fara probably feels like, than yeah - but if she was just looking at them as aunt and niece, than she was making a perfectly reasonable remark about how it's surprising they're so close.

Also - confused Rain. Hee. :D

(Sorry. Gotta play the devil's advocate sometimes. ;P )

I agree; I think Aunt Fara overreacted on this one. Especially considering that she didn't react when Mrs. Parker called her "desperate".
And besides, her comment wasn't even directed toward Rain, but rather towards Aunt Fara's relationship with Rain. Although maybe it wasn't what she said, but how she said it (which can't necessarily be translated through the webcomic medium).

Especially considering that she didn't react when Mrs. Parker called her "desperate".

Actually, that SHOULD probably tell you how much of a sore spot the latter comment must have hit then. ;)

That last panel is priceless. xD

Poor Mrs. Parker. She really does mean well, but she's just so skilled at offending people.

Well i understand Aunt Fara's feelings about Rain, on the other side of things Mrs. Parker is probably going to be out of it for a while after Aunt Fara's hit.

Oh wow...she DID use the keyboard as a weapon O_o
Mrs Parker either needs to learn some tact or start wearing protection at this rate.

lol she deserved it

"Alright, men. The suspect is female, 38 years of age, and 5-foot-8, with red hair and brown eyes. She was last seen heading south on Centerville Road, so she's either heading to her apartment, or she's attempting to flee to Mexico. She has taken her niece with her, and she is currently armed with a student's art project. I don't care what it takes; bring her in or bring her down!"

Whoa... that was a long cold open. Seriously, though, this page plays a bit more with the Aunt Fara - Mrs. Parker dynamic. Mrs. Parker is just trying to be friendly and encouraging, but she falls to her fatal flaw of speaking without thinking. Aunt Fara, meanwhile, shows her private and protective nature, as well as a bit of her violent side. Her (admittedly, implied) attack on Mrs. Parker shows not only her mothering attitude toward Rain, but also perhaps her own insecurity about not having any actual children. Additionally, Rain's comment at the start of the page sets up the next page for a conversation between the two, and for some more Rain-Fara bonding.

Artistically, I love the facial expressions, especially Fara's No-I-am-not-hiding-anything-don't-come-in-here-it's-not-like-I'm-looking-at-porn-no-that's-ridiculous face in the second panel. I also like the stars over Mrs. Parker's unconscious head. In the last panel, though... THE DOOR. It has no depth; it's like I'm looking at a sliding door. I know it's a ridiculously stupid thing to notice, and I know you don't want to give too much detail to background pieces, but it might be worth your while to experiment around to make the little things look believable (I mean, the door looks pretty good on the first and third panels). Anyway, sorry about being a critic.

Ultimately, this page lets the reader see just what happens when you mess around with Fara's relationship with Rain. I like how it concludes the interaction between Aunt Fara and Mrs. Parker (although if the latter intrudes upon the former one more time, I fear she will be made a corpse), as well as how it sets the stage for the next page.
On2XSecretProbation Featured By Owner Sep 12, 2011  Hobbyist Writer much as I like Fara...I feel bad for Mrs. Parker...though once again the head trauma will probably make her forget this even happened...

There has to be a course or self help guide out there for Mrs. Parker that'll teach her to think before she opens her mouth.
