Upon finishing this page and rereading it, I noticed I packed a LOT of information into this one page. So much so, I probably could have drawn it out into two or maybe even three pages. Whether it be laziness or stubbornness though, I don’t know; but it didn’t end up happening. It’s still just one page. ^_^

First off, despite the occasional parody reference to real life products and franchises (like Porter’s Books, Funtendo or FaceSpace), there are in fact three wholly original products in the Rain universe. Namely, these are “Black Wings Kaminari”, “Mad GigaKaizer X”, and now lastly, “Halloween Princess Pandora”.

Whereas Kaminari is supposed to be something of a cult hit manga, and Mad GigaKaizer is supposed to be a classic old giant robot anime, Pandora is meant to be a bit more of a modern and mainstream title with both an anime and a manga adaptation. The idea is that it’s extremely well-known and can even be seen on TV outside of Japan, but TRUE fans buy the DVD (or pirate it online) to get the uncut version. Anyway, the concept of the story is that it’s a “dark magical girl” story; like an unholy lovechild between Sailor Moon and Hellsing (which probably really WOULD be quite popular).

You might not remember (or perhaps didn’t even notice), but you’ve seen Pandora before back on page 43. [link]

And uh… Maria used to have long hair, I guess? Presumably very long, judging by Pandora’s pigtails. That is, incidentally, supposed to be a picture of the character, Pandora, however… not of Maria dressed as Pandora. In this case, anyway. ^_^

Final note: I have a hard time NOT smiling at the second panel. It may be one of my new favorites.

I might just forget if we've already been told by now, but did we ever actually find out why Maria cut her hair? Or will we find out some day?

I think you were just a little overzealous. Not like I blame you, I would be a little too excited myself if I was talking about Maria's love for Pandora and her once long hair. Though it sucks she had to shoot Rudy down like that after he just got the hell beaten out of him. But remember, this is you now, don't be so hard on yourself now that you know that you just need to be more patient.

I also love your explanation of Halloween Princess Pandora, though it would've been cool to see it as another project, I do think it turned out better as a reference than a project. The fact it feels so deep and real as a comic idea makes it seem like didn't want to make some half assed attempt to make a fake comic for your own comic. Though it maybe a while, I look forward to reading more about Pandora in the Rain extras, I'm sure it would be awesome to see a cast list and episode list for the anime adaptation (same with kaminari and Giga Kaizer). Also, I'm a big fan of both Sailor Moon and Hellsing, so you saying that about Pandora really made it a great day.

I have my own personal feeling about Maria and her long hair, though I'm sure none of them are right. But the most likely explanation is that it made her too "frilley". Though it seems weird, some girls don't want to be seen as cute, but more of a stronger more capable individual. Especially if you are a lesbian.

I also love to smile at panel 2 in all its simpleness and one sentence wonder.

I agree with you the second panel is pretty funny but there goes the Kaminari cosplay everyone was hoping for. And Maria had long hair? I bet she looks really good with long hair that's definitely a must see. And nice response Maria in asking Rudy what happened, i also like Maria's embarrassed face.
