What else can I say that the title doesn’t?
Rain, all characters and all other aspects of the story are copyright material belonging to me.
And the principals in the duel and their seconds take the field...
Seriously, though, I like the fact that your strip doesn't need backgrounds, because it's about people, not about places. In this case, the lack of background puts all the reader's attention on the characters, and what they say. In fact, the lackground is "symbolic" of the isolation Rain feels, and the importance of her friends relative to the rest of the world. It's not like you were just too busy to bother, actually writing this great script, or anything like that... :b
And again your use of words really does shine. We saw the page with Rain revealing herself as Ryan, but still her mentioning it still holds the same weight as it did all those months ago. It is a pleasure to know that you don't forget why it ever came to this page. Unlike a lot of mainstream manga that lose their point after the first couple of chapters.
And to further enhance your story, I love the irony that she says she isn't ready. As you said, we are never ready, but are thrown into happenstance without even a toothbrush. Kind of sucks, but that is the life we are born into.
I actually said 'Oh snap' aloud when I read the last panel.
Uhhhh .... Awkward moment!
>Aforementioned situation happens seconds later
See, this is the exact reason why I don't announce my biggest fears and apprehensions out loud.
It's strangely ominous that Rain's the only one without her eye showing in the last panel....
Why are Maria's "shock faces" always fun?
Then you can watch as I quiver in my little corner of emoness~
