“Everything is about Rain. I mean, it’s almost like we live in a comic named after her or something.”
“I know, right?”

:O_o:

Oddly, it’s just dawned on me that this is really the first time we’re getting to see Gavin and Rudy directly interact with one another. There are so many things completely incompatible about their personalities, it’s really a wonder sometimes that they’re friends. They really do have such a great dynamic though; I mean, we’ve got Gavin, who’s a sarcastic bastard who thinks too hard about everything, and then Rudy’s an impulsive meddler who rarely puts much thought into anything. Hilarity ensues.

I hate the way Gavin looks in the second to last panel, but I repeatedly got too lazy to fix it. Someday, I may go back. I also may not. It doesn’t really detract; it just looks icky to me. He looks fine on the rest of the page at least…

…or... like a hobo, according to Rudy. ^_^

LOL My girlfriend calls me a lovable hobo on account I refuse to cut my obnoxiously curly hair and always wear baggy as hell clothing. So I feel for Gavin, e.e everyone's got to comment on the hair.

I forgot to mention, enjoyed how you drew Rudy in a kind of Bishounen way. It seemed appropriate to me to see Rudy drawn more girlish in certain panels (at least that is how he looks to me.)

I know, it seems like we all live in some weird shoujo manga or something. Oh well, it seems like everyday we wake up to a new cover page.

I also enjoy that Gavin is finally manning up to his feelings. To be honest, I was hoping he finally confesses and make amends to Rain. Everyone deserves to be forgiven and to be considered friend. And in Rain's situation, she needs a male ally to stay safe. Just hope Rudy can break past this outer shell.

I also want to point out that I always imagined a voice like Dante's from Devil May Cry for Gavin's voice. Knowing that the voice was also a Power Ranger back in the day made me think it was in someway appropriate to see him as Gavin. Though its still a toss up between him and Johnny Young Bosch (Nero/Black Ranger), really the best voices for lone young men.

Rudy maybe a little harder, but one of the best ones is definitely the voice of Akira Sakamoto from Princess Princess (also the voice for Bartz in Dissidia). I know that his voice should be a little fun and in someway flirty. Either way, I enjoy speculating what certain characters sound like ^_^.

While I like Johnny Yong Bosch, I don't see his voice really fitting Gavin. His voice is just a teeny bit too high, I think. Someone else had suggested Travis Willingham (Roy Mustang;FMA), but ironically, I think he's too deep. There needs to be kind of a middle ground, but I can't seem to find it. Gavin's a big guy, so he needs a strong voice but he is still a kid so I also can't have it too deep. Finding Gavin's voice has been exceptionally tricky.

Rudy however will have to be voiced by Greg Ayres, hands down (specifically hear his performance as Kaoru in Ouran High or Heihachi in Samurai 7). His voice is extremely young-sounding while still maintaining a distinctly masculine pitch.

Also, it's unrelated, but Aunt Fara has to be voiced by Mary Elizabeth McGlynn (Nuriko; Fushigi Yugi).

The fact you even know of Mary Elizabeth McGlynn makes you even more awesome, great voice and amazing singer.

That has to be the best description of Gavin's voice you can describe. Its sad I can't find anyone to match.

As for Rudy, it shows I need to watch more anime. Ouran, Fushigi, and Samurai 7 I really need to watch now that you mention them. Sucks when you only have so much money DX

I don't really know anything about Mrs. McGlynn actually, outside of her spectacular voicework in anime and games. And her performance in Fushigi Yugi in particular single-handedly made her a fast favorite of mine (Nuriko is, like, one of my favorite characters ever).

Ouran High School is, in my opinion, kind of a guilty pleasure. It's cheesy, and sometimes downright stupid even. But it's also SO out there, it's just plain fun. The characters are likeable, and the things that happen are often laugh-out-loud hilarious.

Samurai 7 is superb. The pacing is awkward sometimes in my opinion, but the characterization is brilliant. You will laugh. You will cry. And you will love it.

Fushigi Yugi is one of my absolute favorite anime. It's a classic that I think every anime fan should watch. Period.

Anyway, I was able to watch Ouran at Funimation's website for free (the fact that they showcase most of their titles for free - sometimes even before releasing the DVD - is seriously a brilliant sales move). But Samurai 7 and Fushigi Yugi will probably much harder to finder as they're both significantly older titles. It's worth a look though.
