RAIN p.27 - Evil Incarnate by JocelynSamara RAIN p.27 - Evil Incarnate by JocelynSamara

Fun fact: I was originally going to keep gym class out of this story altogether. My line thinking was, 的値l just come up with some excuse, because getting Rain through gym undetected would probably make things so much harder for her. My first - and only halfway decent - excuse was to give Rain asthma. But then, I asked someone who had asthma if that was plausible, and she said, 杜aybe if it痴 REALLY bad. I still went to and enjoyed gym class.

Well

But it was after that that I sort of realized I was just trying to avoid this whole thing out of laziness. So, I told myself to get over it. I知 going all out with every other aspect of the story, why get lazy about THIS of all things? Hence as a result, I actually kept Rain being asthmatic and am still making her take gym class. And heck, this page as a whole is sort of me poking fun at myself for trying to cop out of potentially good drama - trying SO hard to get out of it to have my best idea shot down in seconds.

That値l learn me to try and be lame like that. ^^;

I really enjoy reading this comic, so touching

I get through gym by wearing my yoga clothes through the whole day

Finally catching up on all this. It's interesting to see the world from other side of the argument, even if I don't agree with it. I know it's supposed to be in a humorous manner, but the thing about Fr. Quenton, made me a little upset. ^^; Me being a Catholic and all. Overall, I feel this comic is getting quite interesting. I really can relate to Gavin.

He tends to go on a crazy rant about "evil".

He's from Spongebob Squarepants.

I'll be fine if you've never sw. It's a mainstream cartoon whose success I'm indifferent towards.

And just like Rain, Father Quenton has forced you as a creator to continue the drama. I can admit that happened to me a couple of times when a character I made actually told me what to do next. Best way to say it is that none of us can control what is going to happen to your story. But that should be the basis that you should be excited rather than intimidated by gym class. Obviously as mangaka we are forced to go place we would not normally go with art and sometimes that is better for us than to stay in the subjects we limit ourselves to. Because of acts like this Rain really does become more than just a tg story or a school life or slice of life story.

I have to also admit that most priests tend to be evil incarnate (and maybe wear super fake mops/wigs). This comment always leads my mom to say I'm 'going to be struck by lightning' but a priest can judge a tg person like anyone else. Thus they shouldn't be seen as gods but seen like any other mortal. It is a fact no one wants to admit, but its a reality most of us face.

As for gym class, BAD MEMORIES. They didn't allow students in the stalls to change, so it was difficult to be in a cramped room with a bunch of rowdy men and hope no one notices. Even if there was no girl clothes underneath it was still embarrassing to take of your shirt, alone your pants. Luckily we survived, and that's all that matters, even though that was the condensed story. Either way, this is a funny bit of forshadowing and hopefully Rain can survive the shock of gym class.

(Phone was out for four days, sorry for the late response)

It'll surely be a challenge to work with the assorted possible situations involved with gym class, but I suppose it is kind of important to go into it. Like you said, it's good to explore ideas we as writers wouldn't normally consider sometimes too.

Although Father Quenton is regarded as "evil incarnate", I'd really like to make it clear that I'm not actually trying to say anything bad about priests or anything. He is still just one man... just one human, like anyone else. He has faults, but he does not represent every single priest, in very much the same way that Rain does not represent every single transsexual. I hope to make this a little more apparent as the story progresses.

That's good of you to think that, but as I said before, I just them as people and throw away any preconceptions. Like not all tg people are like us, so they have to be talked to and understood like you would a normal person. Same as priest, scientist, and future president (republican myself, hope that's okay).

As for Father Quenton, did he come from the Fantasy Rain as well or he (as well as other characters) are exclusive to the slice of life Rain. You can answer if you want, just love learning about all characters and trivia about them major to minor. I guess that is apart of the list of why I like your writing.

Prejudice is unfortunately a natural part of everyone. It's true. Even if it's not in a bad way, anytime any person meets anyone, they'll notice certain aspects and make preconceptions based on what they have seen a pattern of before. I myself try my damnedest not to do it because I don't want to judge anyone (like you said, you really need to talk to someone to get to know them), but EVERYBODY is guilty of being judgmental once in a while... even if they don't mean to... even if they're unaware they're doing it.

What's important is being able to pick your battles and accept when somebody is simply different and not hurting anyone by doing so (for instance, even if I disagree with a certain religious or political stance, that wouldn't necessarily mean that I'd automatically dislike anyone who DOES agree with them... as long as they can accept that my opinions are different too, I can continue to be friends with them).

Anyway, that was a fun little rant.

As for Father Quenton, yes, he's from "fantasy Rain" too. In fact, he, out of everyone, has probably changed the least since transition. Same rotten attitude. Same fakeass wig. And still the one running the show at the school (albeit, the school was a bit different). The only REAL difference, is that he was a High Priest in the original version, whereas here, he's just a priest (because I'm relatively certain that Catholicism doesn't actually use "High Priest" in their heirarchy...). I suppose I could have at least made a monsignor or something, but that doesn't roll off the tongue as easily.

Actually, the ONLY characters in this version of the comic (so far) who were NOT in the original story are Holly and Debbie (the redhead and the plump girl respectively in panel 3 of page 10 [link]), Rand M. Guy (page 24 [link]), and the other teacher just shown recently (spotted on page 28 [link]). I guess Puddle too, if you count that. ^_^

Otherwise, I've been trying very hard to include every character from the original version (although some have changed pretty dramatically), as well as adding a number of new people too (to come in later, obviously). We're looking at a HUGE cast ultimately, and perhaps when the whole thing is over, I'd like to draw a massive montage featuring every single character who ever had a line of dialogue in this comic. :XD:

again you prove your talent as a writer by showing your openess. Such feelings need to be shared and continue to make that better world we hope for. But I guess we can't demand too much, our stories are what helps spread these feelings after all.

I kind of expected Quenton to have been a high priest at one point. And to know others were pulled from the 'fantasy' really continues to interest me in how the story changed over time. But either way, it can't be fathomed how interested in this comics wit. And even the characters not from the original deserve a place in my heart. Look forward to that cast spread, its going to be epic.

Well in a way it did. One of the funniest moments I remember in the anime is when Hazumu goes in to the girls changing room for first time after being turned into a girl. Or when she went to buy her first Bra. "Austa will you measure me... KICK!!!!" yeah im not obsessed with the anime. I only have every episode and I them all in mmp3 format so I can listen to them while I drive. oh and I also have a few drawing on my deviant page.

Those evil evil clergymen.

Though, she could always do what I did during gym. Take my clothes to a nearby bathroom stall and change. (Usually all the changing rooms had them, and no one really noticed. )

I still hated gym though.

I remember almost doing that once, but then some other kid did for one reason or another, and he was made fun of for it. So I never did it.

To this day, I'm still not quite sure why getting changed in privacy is tease-worthy though.
