RAIN p.19 - Gavin by JocelynSamara RAIN p.19 - Gavin by JocelynSamara
(Im kinda not feeling so hot today, so Im sure no one will complain that Im posting this a couple hours early so I can get some rest)

First - [link]
Prev - [link]
Next - [link]

Now that I look at it, I wonder if this page was even necessary. I feel like all it really did was draw things out just a wee bit longer. Well, I guess it helps establish that Rudys not a complete jerk hopefully

I ended up changing the dialogue on this one a few times too. Marias final line, in particular, originally stated that she thought Gavin was being emo because on the off-hand chance Rudy was right about Rain, hed owe her ever more money. As amusing as I thought that was, Maria did technically deny that bet. Plus, no matter how I worded it, it just never felt natural. So while a little funny, I dont think I really liked the line at all. I hope she slaps him though, seems more fitting to me and is potentially still kinda funny.

People think I hate gender confused people, but I don't. You was born he or she, and all of history nobody was confused about gender until now. What makes us any special from the previous centuries? Perhaps computers? Bull shit.

I somewhat had the main character's problem but not like his, even as baby I understood gender it birth and that's it. The solid tradional ways now days is only the church, outside it's just lies and edits up for grabs, called lifestyle.

I will actually befriend, gays, bisexual, and transgender. but don't bring your problems I got enough already

"You was born he or she, and all of history nobody was confused about gender until now."
Funny you should say that.  There are several cases of it in other times if you actually take the time to look.

There've undoubtedly been trans folk in all time periods throughout history.  What "makes us special" is that people today have the option of finally doing something about it thanks to scientific advancements.  Back before the last century, it simply wasn't possible.  It's also less dangerous to openly identify oneself this way today.  Many early cultures might have treated transgender people harshly, or perhaps even put them to death.  Considering that's still the case in some cultures today, it shouldn't be hard to imagine that trans people in history might opt to internalize their feelings rather than risk their lives.

"even as baby I understood gender it birth and that's it."
Then you clearly don't understand.  That's not it at all.  Sex refers to one's anatomy.  Gender refers to one's identity.  Someone who was assigned male sex at birth can still identify themselves as female.  And vice versa too.  But how one identifies themselves should be how the individual is treated regardless of their physical sex.  For example, if someone who was named Michael at birth prefers to be called "Mike", are you gonna argue with them that it says "Michael" on their birth certificate, or will you simply call them Mike because he asked?  It'd be kind of a jerk move to call him by his full name if he doesn't want to identify himself like that.  But if you gladly adhere to his request, why would that be different from if Michael asked to be treated female and called "Michelle"?

"I will actually befriend, gays, bisexual, and transgender. but don't bring your problems I got enough already"
Which problems are those?  The fact that they might identify as gay, bisexual, or transgender?  Is that really their problem or yours?  Plenty of gay, bisexual, or transgender individuals are totally content to be what they are.  Our problems aren't with ourselves, but with people who claim to be friendly and understanding towards "gays, bisexual, and transgender", but in the same breath call people like that confused and refer to their difficulties as bullshit.  We're not confused.  We are very real.  And if you really want to show you're a friend to LGBT-identifying people, consider trying to learn more about us and how we prefer to be treated.  That'd be a good start in demonstrating your compassion for your fellow human being.  If you can't even do that, it's a small wonder why gender non-conforming people think you hate them.

I follow the fact that people always want something that they dont have, and always will. People think what ever they want, but in the end , you failed to understand that gender exist to only make babies. If your not born male or female for those reasons alone, your  not the other gender. You know Im right, we arent design to debate are you man or woman, this is not the Twilight Zone where the mind rule matter.

Other than that I don't care who you are, just make sure you leave bull shit on the street

I'm sorry.  I seem to have mistaken you for a intelligent human being who could be reasoned with.  But instead of responding with understanding (or even a cohesive rebuttal), you dodge the whole thing tactlessly with a very mature "you know I'm right" (whatever helps you sleep at night, buddy).  I produce personal testimony, links, and examples, and then you demonstrate that nothing I say, no matter how logical or factual, will ever get through to you anyway.  So thank you, I guess, for wasting my time.

You know, for someone who doesn't want anyone to give you bullshit, you sure do needlessly pass it out.  Just sayin'.

Again, I'm sure you know what I'm going to say. So I'll say this. Rain probably wouldn't have the heart to slap him, nor mean it if she does. I f it were me, someone who would not only discover my secret, but also have my real name would be enough to faint. But either way, this is going to be an important moment for Rain and Gavin.

Either way, they both remembered each other, maybe even laughed, and maybe even shared secrets. Ryan did, it could explain why Gavin is so serious about this meet up.

The one thing I'm sure you will say though, it really isn't a place for Maria and Rudy. No matter how open they are they are still new to Rain. So looking back on the previous pages, there really is no other way out of this.

Pretty insightful thoughts, as usual. One paragraph in particular is especially interesting, and I may have to refer to it for one of the pages that'll go up this coming week. ^_^

I feel honored that you feel that way about my comments, really hope they continue to inspire you in some little way.

It could be that you doing that will make people aware of me, but it really shows you care enough to recommend me to others. I really thank you for that
