A little while back, a good friend and watcher (and fellow transgirl), sent me a bunch of questions via Note, asking about my experiences, feelings and advice on certain trans-related things. She said she got a lot out of my answers, so I decided I wanted to post this and share it with other transgirls that might also potentially be able to gain something from this - especially those that are still pre-transition. I have, after all, spent a pretty long time in that agonizing pre-transition stage. Far longer than I wanted.

And today I will be continuing my pet project to come up with more complex designs for the clothing of the main cast in Rain. To do so, I've been making character sheets that portray a variety of costumes for each character. Today, I'll be talking about Maria.

Maria's style is somewhat difficult to define. As you can see above, there's a pretty drastic range that would seem to cover different potential looks. #1 and #3 are a bit more casual and tame. Meanwhile, #2 and #4 have a more fun and less conservative look. The more I thought about it, the second and fourth are probably closer to what Maria would actually want to wear, whereas the first and third are probably stuff she just puts up with to appease her overbearing parents.

(Of course, we've also never seen the second and fourth outfits, so it's hard to say how and when she'd come wear one of them.) ^_^

It's also worth noting that since the end of Chapter 5, Maria has been growing her hair ever longer (and probably a lot faster than realistically possible). I don't have any idea how long it's going to get (or if she'll cut it again someday, for that matter), but as it gets longer, we may start to see Maria doing different things with it occasionally. To keep her recognizable though, she'll always have a headband to match her outfit in some way (I had her go without a headband once and it looked terrible; I don't know what I was thinking).

Anyway, that's it for now, but by all means: ask questions, make suggestions, whatever. I'm always happy to hear.

I really like the second one! I love the shorts-over-leggings/tights look. And I like the idea of a headband for every outfit. Maybe spruce up the headbands a little, like patterns or doohickeys on them?

v cute! My hair is just a bit longer than hers and it's annoying as all get out! It was more annoying a few months ago, when I couldn't pull it all into a ponytail and had 'puppy ears', or big sections of hair at the front of my head that were too short to be in a ponytail, but too long for headbands to keep out of the way when I leaned over to write, eat... Maria's seems to be at that length.

I really like the 4th outfit its really cute. The only time I could imagine Maria wearing that on a date with Chanel or Rain hehe. It would really drive her parents crazy though, actually it would be really fun for her to wear that in front of her parents I wouldn't expect Maria to wear a skirt either.

This is a really nice range. The fourth outfit seems to convey a rebellious look that we've yet to see in the comic itself, maybe hinting at future character development? ........or maybe I'm seeing things that aren't there.

The fourth outfit is totally cute! Maria is as adorable as Rain with her hair tied back. Outfit #2 has a sophistication to it that really makes Maria look great. All in all, good job!

Oh it's possible for hair to grow that fast. I'm living proof. My hair grows like a weed, but only above the neckline, which is so weird. It means my hair gets fairly long, fairly quickly. YAY!
