Description

The keen eye (or a younger eye) may have noticed that this piece is listed as containing mature content. Ironically, it does not. Or rather, I’d argue that whatever it is that Aunt Fara drew is apparently pretty nasty… based on Rain’s reaction, anyway. Anyway, I’ll probably change that setting in a couple of days, but for right now I’ve chosen to post it like this as a bit of an experiment.

[EDIT] - The Mature Filter has now been turned off.

You see, some people might recall me worrying a few months back [link] about certain questionable content that may appear in Rain in later parts of the story. As I said then, my concern is that a point may come in my sometimes potentially controversial comic when something happens that could upset someone in some way (more than likely by way of language or themes, as there is no nudity or gore in this comic). My problem with this idea however is that I do know for a fact that I have watchers under 18 years old, and I don’t want to exclude them from what would probably be a crucial page in the story, by slapping a mature content filter on it.

But this mature content WARNING option intrigues me, and I wanted to see how it works. So I drew something for the sole purpose of putting this warning on it, and then created a super secret account as a minor. Obviously, I haven’t seen it in action yet, since I’m still writing this blurb. But I’m going to totally check it out once I’m done. If it works the way I hope it does, and allows my youthful alter-ego to decide for herself whether or not she’s mature enough to see it, then I won’t feel like I have to worry anymore. If not, well, I may continue to worry until I figure something else out.

And for the record, I might NEVER actually need to do anything. As if this writing, I’ve got 48 pages fully written and drawn and still have no need of such a filter. I have ideas for scenes that MIGHT require filters, but I feel like I won’t know whether or not it really does until such time as I actually draw it out. I won’t dumb down anything in my stories, because that would remove the impact, but it might just not be as bad as I thought when I see it actually on paper.

Finally, it’s worth mentioning that even if this piece is a fake, it’s the first thing I’ve ever posted to have a mature content label of any kind on it. I don’t like excluding people, so if this could be my last one too, I’d be happy.

Now, if you actually read all of that and this is your first time ever hearing of Rain, allow me to direct you to this [link]

This piece, like Rain Delay [link] is not story-relevant material. I mean, I guess you could call it canon. This really COULD occur during any given weekend throughout the story. Aunt Fara IS an art teacher so she would enjoy drawing. And Rain IS easily freaked out by things, so her reaction is pretty reasonable.

Aunt flaura's drawing is probably along the lines of the stuff I usually like to draw.
