[100 Themes Challenge]
Happiness

Well, I missed Spirit Day, but at least I got to post this within DeviantArt's extended "Spirit Week". Hurray for not being a total failure.

I spent a lot of time going over various means to create a positive piece for Spirit Day, but surprisingly, had a lot of trouble coming up with something. I considered trying to portray additional couples - one consisting of two guys, as well as a straight couple - to gather the whole spectrum. But besides running a little late on this (and I'd never have made it in time at all if I tried to do two MORE couples), but I didn't really want to have to introduce unfamiliar characters or pairings like this. I figured the Lavender Town girls are probably some of my most recognizable characters anyway.

If you don't know them, sitting on the swing is Amanda Kertigan, an anti-social girl who basically hates everyone. Everyone, that is, except for Lavie Jennings, the sweet-as-pie girl behind her who has stolen her heart. Sure, they go to a private high school where no one is sure to understand them. But they don't care. As long as they're happy together, no one else's opinion really matters.

If you're interested in their story, please by all means check it out - [link] There are currently nine chapters available (although I admit to slacking and haven't put out a new one in quite some time).

By the way, this isn't actually from any particular scene, but if you know the story, you probably know the place. ^_^

Lavender Town, Amanda Kertigan, Lavie Jennings and all other aspects of the story are copyright material, belonging to me.

i havent made to this scene yet, but 'i'm sure it will be great to see such a connection. To me, swings always remind me what love is. That it was never about the bedroom, but about trusting that someone will ways be behind to push you further to the sky. Childish and short comment, but some times you dont need much to understand. Hope they will be happy.

This isn't technically based on a direct scene in the story (yet?), but the location is one mentioned a few times. Really, I just wanted a sweet scene with which to portray the lovely young couple.

As for the romantic statement of "being pushed to the sky", it really is quite nice, and of course, fitting. When I set out to write Lavender Town, I knew I wanted to write a "love story between two girls". Not sexual, but specifically a love story. I'm not against referring to sex in the story; but I never want it to be a focal point or its own scene. ^_^

you really are a pure person. I don't doubt that sex happens, the same as using the toilet happens. Just because it does doesn't make it less valgur. If anything, an OC is a real person and deeserves to be treated as such.

I can kind of understand "trying to cover the whole spectrum" thing. I actually had an idea in mind of having a pseduo-harem thing involving a typical guy having a bunch of girls after him... only for the guy to actually be gay, and the main character actually be a platonic female friend of his.

Amanda looks pretty sweet here. Actually, she reminds me of someone I knew in High School. Ironically, she was a straight girl with lesbian friends. It was a time where I learned that I'm a mutual source of confusion for everybody, but I digress.

Seeing something like this makes me glad I finally decided to watch you. Keep it up. :D

Every single story of mine features a gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgendered character (not all, but at least one of the above), even if not every story I write necessarily revolves around it. It's kind of a passionate subject for me. So truthfully, your harem idea is quite interesting to me. I approve. ^_^

Also, I don't think I've ever formally thanked you for watching me. So, um... I should probably go do that. :XD:

Sadly, this harem idea is a low-priority thing for me. It MAY be brought up briefly with character designs, but otherwise, it's not a prominent concept for the moment.

On the other hand, it seems I've adressed a number of ideas in the past that you also seem to be interested. Hope they don't dissapoint...
